There is no duty cycle so it may be run all night. Multiple fixtures may be linked and run together using 3-pin DMX cable.
The Electro Swarm is a sound activated effect (not DMX) and moves to the beat of music. It has a sound sensitivity knob that allows you to adjust the music sensitivity.
